On Feburary 1, 1958 the Juno 1 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral AFS Launch Complex 26 and successfully delivered the first ever U.S. Satellite (Explorer-1) into orbit. This facility, now decommissioned, has served as the Air Force Space & Missile Museum since 1966. CDE Construction was recently awarded a contract from the Air Force to perform a restoration on the aging complex. Work includes complete blasting and coating of parts of the launch complex.

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009CDE Construction was awarded with a design/build contract to replacing portable guard shelters with permanent 8′x8′ concrete pre-cast structures. CDE’s construction team was responsible for the demolition and removal of the old shelters, site work, and prepping ground and/or existing slabs for the installtion of the new pre-cast shelters. Additionally, CDE will do final electrical wiring to connect to existing electrical service for lighting and communication.
Construction: NASA OSB2 Lighting
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009CDE’s Construction group was recently awarded this design-build project for modifying the existing Douglas Lighting Control System (a proprietary system) at NASA’s OSB II Building at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Modifications that our construction team will be responsible for are the installation of new EMT conduit, 7 new lighting control modules, communication and low voltage control wire between new and existing equipment, and cable termination. CDE procured the services of Douglas Lighting to program the new modules and provide appropriate testing and training to NASA. CDE Construction is scheduled to finished this project in mid May 2009.
Construction: Generator Replacement at CCAFS
Monday, March 30th, 2009Cape Design Engineering Co’s construction side recently completed the installation of two new 1000 kW emergency generators for two satellite processing facilities on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The construction required pouring new concrete pads for each generator and it’s 6,000 gallon fuel tanks. Construction is complete and these new generators stand ready to serve when needed.
