Responsibilities & Duties

Expectations of performance from an applicant will include ongoing development and maintenance of professional engineering knowledge and skills, application of that knowledge and those skills in an active design engineering environment.
Applicant shall apply his or her own knowledge of structural engineering in many various assignments or associated fields. Applicant is expected to utilize limited judgement when performing or assisting on designs. Engineers are this level are closely monitored and mentored by senior level engineers.   Typical assignments will require or include:

  •  Collection and analysis of information or documents.
  • Performs standard computations or analysis.
  • Prepares drawings and visual aids.
  • Observes construction activities.
  •  Performs basic survey work.
  • Performs basic design tasks.
  • Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and CAD work.
  • Any additional related tasks issued by superiors.
  • Performs moderate design tasks.
  • Prepares portions of project documents.
  • Edits specifications.
  • Performs research and investigations.
  • Applicant is also responsible for maintaining CDE Company Standards and Practices.

Structural Engineer I applicants are expected to be “team players” realizing that their contributions affect their professional development as well as the outcome of projects; this also includes profitability.
Lastly, CDE’s commitment to continues professional development is of the utmost importance. Therefore, applicant shall be an active member of at least one professional practice organization with efforts to show active participation.

Qualifications and Required Skills

Technical Skills

Must be have experience in the use of:

  • Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word
  • Autodesk REVIT
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • STADD.Pro and/or RISA-3D
  • Enercalc
  • NOTE: If applicant has no experience in STADD.Pro, RISA-3D, or Enercalc then be prepared to provide information on design software you have utilized in the past.

Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university in the field of Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering (Or expecting graduation by December 2017)
  • Minimum of 0-3 years of experience as an Structural Engineer with relevant experience as a project manager
  • Must possess excellent communication skills – both verbal and written

Certification, Licenses, Registrations

  • Applicants with Engineering Intern (EIT) registration are preferred, but not required.

Additional Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or valid US Work Visa (Green Card)
  • Active membership and involvement in professional practice organization preferred
